One of the most common questions I get is: “What do you do?” I don’t mind the question, I only spend my time on things I find interesting, so why shouldn’t I want to answer it? That’s why I thought I also would give you a quick update. I graduated high school this year, which means a lot of things have changed for me. I decided to have a gap year, and right now I work as an online journalist on News Break. No, I’m not a trained journalist, but I’ve been writing for years and years. I think I started writing when I was around 12, and as you know I’m now 19, so yeah, a lot of years. The editor had read my blog and needed someone with good english skills, so he gave me a shot. What do I then write about? Everything. I can pretty much decide myself, as long as it has a personal touch. Which mean I focus on the person behind the story, and not the the big picture. I zoom in. Sometimes I also write celebrity stuff for Kendte.
Other than my job I’ve also recently been elected as chairman for our local youth party. We’re liberal, but still responsible if you ask me. Youth politics has long been my hobby and I like taking a stand on our society, something I think everyone should do. As a new “leader” you of course have a lot of goals and things you want to change, and that has stressed me out the last couple of weeks, but I already think it’s starting to be better. Normally I don’t mind being in charge, but I had to get used to that I now have the final say. Often you get stuck thinking “what do we usually do?” but that doesn’t change anything. In stead you have to think “how do we do this the best possible way?”
I also have plans to travel. Originally the plan was for me to travel with a girlfriend from high school to Asia, but in stead she chose to study. Something she decided over summerbreak. I completely respect her decision, and I would probably had done the same thing in her position, but it has meant that I had to start from scratch again. I’ve asked another girlfriend to join me. She thought it was a joke, ’cause it was so out of the blue. Of course she had to think about it, so we’ll see what happens. After a lot of online travel destination browsing I’m pretty sure I want to go to Australia instead. It’s also easier to travel to Australia than Asia by yourself, if it should come to that, and I have always wanted to surf, haha!
Other than that you know I spend a lot of time on the blog. I have a couple of posts in the works right now, and a competition that’ll come shortly. So there is something for you to look forward to! How do you spend your life right now?
